Homegrown Hartsville: Matthew was born in Hartsville, studied at Coker College, started a career in Darlington County School District, and chose to start a family here. As an attorney, he looks forward to continuing to work for this community. 


Matthew Ferguson was an undergraduate at Coker College, majoring in Political Science and English Education. After graduation, he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to Indonesia. Upon its completion, he came back to Darlington County to work at Darlington High School, a Title 1 school, as an English Teacher. During his time there, he completed graduate work in Literacy and Educational Leadership. Later, he moved to district administration in Darlington County School District. During the evenings, he completed his J.D. at the Charlotte School of Law with academic honors.

The Child and Family Resource Foundation gathers in one place a wide range of necessary fundamental services that address the mental health, education, and overall wellness of children and families. Our services help develop positive outcomes in children and their families using awareness of social-emotional skill development, parent education, and school preventive measures, in addition to addressing social-emotional problems that currently exist within families.
