What services do Child and Family Resource provide?
Child and Family Resource provides educational and psycho-educational assessments, social-emotional assessments, counseling, special education consulting/advocacy, and mental health services for children and families.
 

Who does Child and Family Resource serve?

We primarily serve children and young people with disabilities, special needs, and social-emotional or mental health concerns. We also provide support to parents and caregivers.
 

What is the primary focus of Child and Family Resource?

Our primary focus is helping parents ensure their children have all the services they need to be resilient. We help families understand assessment results and identify appropriate interventions, resources, and support services available throughout our community.
 

What types of assessments are available?

We provide psycho-educational/psychological evaluations, educational, and social-emotional assessments. These evaluations can help families and professionals better understand a child's learning, developmental, emotional, and behavioral needs.

Do I need a doctor's referral?

Yes. Contact your child's primary care provider for a referral so that our office can work alongside them to provide your child the care they need.

What is the process to have my child evaluated for autism?
If you suspect your child needs an autism evaluation, have your child's primary care physician fax a referral to our office. We will contact you to schedule an intake with our clinician. You will need to be able to provide our clinician with a structured developmental history that outlines your child's developmental milestones since birth. As well, you must bring a current copy of your child's BabyNet records, IEP, or 504 plan for the intake.
 

Do you provide counseling?

Yes. We provide counseling services for children and families, with particular expertise in supporting individuals experiencing trauma, grief, and loss and the emotional challenges that can affect young people and their caregivers.
 

Do you work with parents and caregivers?

Yes. In addition to working directly with children and young people, we provide guidance, and support services to parents and caregivers.
 

What is special education consulting?

Helping parents/caregivers of children with special needs navigate the IDEA or 504 process.
 

Can you help my child if I am concerned about learning or development?

Yes. Through an intake with our clinician we will be able to target areas of concern and help make recommendations that can increase your child's levels of academic functioning. We help identify a child's strengths, challenges, and educational needs. We can also provide recommendations for appropriate interventions and supports that you can use across home and school.

How do I know if my child needs an IEP or 504 Plan?
If your child's academic functioning indicates that there is delays in grades, state testing scores, social-emotional, or discipline, there is a likely hood that your child has educational impact and may need the intervention to start the process for IDEA or 504 Plan.

If my child has an IEP or 504 Plan can you help me as a parent/caregiver?
Yes. Our clinician is able to answer your questions regarding goals and objectives outlined in your child's IEP or 504 Plan.
 

Can you help families coping with grief and loss?

Yes. Grief and loss is an area of specialization within our mental health services. We provide counseling and support designed to help children and families navigate the emotional impact of loss.

122 East Home Avenue in Hartsville South Carolina. Our office is located in a 2-story brick house next door to First Baptist Church of Hartsville. Parking is available in the front driveway for your convenience.
